Finalists tackled well-chosen, thought-provoking topics, delivering their speeches with impressive confidence

Year 8 speech finalists took the stage for this year’s Speech Competition, hosted by the English Department. A huge thank you goes to Mrs Letting for meticulously organising the event, and to our Year 8 English teachers for facing the tough task of selecting our finalists from such a talented cohort. Two finalists were selected from each Year 8 class.

Our panel of judges, Ms Beach, Eli Hansen (Y13 debater), and Ian Lim (Y13 debater), had their work cut out for them. Finalists tackled well-chosen, thought-provoking topics, delivering their speeches with impressive confidence and captivating stage presence. The standard was exceptionally high, making deliberation a tough call.

After careful consideration, Mikhail Victorio took 1st place with his winning speech on The 30 Second Rule. Nathan McKearney claimed 2nd place, while Noel Joseph secured 3rd.
