The event brought together an incredible turnout of passionate Young Vinnies members from both schools

This past Wednesday, history was made at the Rosmini Auditorium as we hosted our first-ever Northern Regional Young Vinnies Meeting alongside Carmel College. This initiative marked the very first regional gathering of its kind in recent years — and it was an absolute triumph.

The event brought together an incredible turnout of passionate Young Vinnies members from both schools. The evening focused on strengthening bonds among our student volunteers, expanding their outreach within our school gates and the wider community, and discovering a deeper connection with one another.

The Rosmini boys displayed initiative from the outset, stepping up early to set up the auditorium and sound system so everything was perfect for when our Carmel sisters arrived.

Throughout the night, the students socialised and collaborated through a series of team games and challenges. Central to the evening was a powerful question posed to the group: “With what we have now, what difference can we make in the world?”

The students embraced the spirit of the Good Samaritan, discussing how they can help their "neighbours" at every opportunity. Their inspiring responses all connected back to two core pillars: people and faith. It was heartening to see the boys carry themselves with such pride in their faith. The successful night concluded with a reflection and a joint prayer.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Carmel Young Vinnies leaders, the Young Vinnies Onehunga Representative, and staff who generously gave up their after-school time to supervise and support the event. A massive shout-out goes to everyone who turned up and participated, with a special thank you to Carmel College for their incredible help in organising this milestone evening.

We look forward to seeing how these strengthened bonds inspire our service moving forward!
