This project embodies the Rosmini College school motto, "Charity fulfils the Law”, transforming an abstract principle into a living, daily practice

On Friday 4 September the spirit of giving was on full display as De Paul House collected the first 35 Hearty Family Meal food bags packed by our Rosmini College volunteers. 

Our students proudly handed over the food bags, knowing that the joint efforts of Rosmini College and Gilmours North Shore had directly supported 35 local families that day. Because each individual bag is carefully put together to feed a family of four, this initial drop provided a nutritious, comforting dinner to 140 people in our community, giving them the resources to prepare a cooked meal with pride and dignity.

This project embodies the Rosmini College school motto, "Charity fulfils the Law”, transforming an abstract principle into a living, daily practice. By actively volunteering to organise, pack, and donate ingredients, our students prove that a holistic education extends far beyond the classroom. They are not merely fulfilling a duty; they are choosing to put empathy into action. Handing over these meals is a tangible demonstration of love and service, showing that when our students look out for the vulnerable, they fulfill the highest law of all—the law of charity.

The success of this drive relied entirely on a collaborative team effort. Rosmini College students generously donated the cans of tuna that served as the primary protein, while the balance of the ingredients was supplied by Gilmours North Shore. 

Our school community also shines through the creative leadership behind the initiative. The food bag logo and the custom recipe cards were was designed by a team of three student designers: Caleb Pereira, Tourenz Mangiri, and Maru Decena.

This milestone is just the beginning of a fantastic, ongoing relationship between Gilmours North Shore and Rosmini College. For our next batch, we have set our sights even higher: we plan to make up 50 Hearty Meal Food Bags. Feeding a family of four per bag means this next drive will directly supply a wholesome dinner to 200 people in need. We look forward to continuing this momentum and thank all the volunteers, families and Gilmours North Shore who continue to make this project possible.
