The partnership will provide healthy, non-perishable meal kits designed to help families prepare nutritious meals at home
Rosmini College is proud to announce the launch of an exciting new community project created to support local families experiencing food insecurity. In partnership with Gilmours North Shore, our school community will provide healthy, non-perishable meal kits designed to help families prepare nutritious meals at home.
At the heart of this initiative are the values of dignity, pride and community connection. Rather than simply providing food, the project aims to give families the opportunity to prepare and enjoy a wholesome meal together. Our Rosmini team have been busy developing custom recipe cards featuring hearty, nutritious and budget-friendly meals. Each family-sized meal kit will include a recipe card and all the necessary non-perishable ingredients, ready to be taken home and prepared.
This project represents a meaningful connection between commercial generosity and community action. Gilmours North Shore, located at 37 Constellation Drive, will serve as our primary logistics partner, supplying bulk staple ingredients for the meal kits. These ingredients will then be transported to Rosmini College, where our volunteers and Young Vinnies students will carefully portion the supplies and assemble them into family-sized meal kits.
Throughout August and September, our Rosmini Army volunteers and Young Vinnies students will also be collecting tins of tuna to include alongside the ingredients supplied by Gilmours. We encourage members of our school community to support this collection, as every donation will help us provide additional meal kits to families in need.
Families within the North Shore community will be able to register on our database to receive meal kits as they become available. Further information about registration and collection arrangements will be shared as the project develops.
There will be many opportunities for students, families and members of the wider community to get involved. Students are invited to share their families’ favourite healthy and affordable recipes, including curries, pasta bakes and hearty stews. These recipes may help inspire future meal kits and ensure that the programme reflects the diverse tastes and traditions of our community.
Volunteers will also be needed to help portion bulk ingredients and assemble the meal bags safely and efficiently. Details of upcoming packing sessions will be shared in school notices over the coming weeks.
Please watch for our first recipe profiles and further information about volunteer opportunities. We extend our sincere thanks to Gilmours North Shore for helping make this vision a reality. Through this partnership, Rosmini College is proud to support local families and strengthen the spirit of generosity and service within our wider community.
