Rosmini claims 3 medals at water polo zone day
We had three Intermediate Rosmini Water Polo teams compete at the North Harbour Zone Day on 4 June. The boys represented Rosmini College with pride, determination, and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the tournament. The teams claimed one gold and two silver medals.
Rosmini Blue had a fantastic day playing in the first division, recording impressive pool-play victories over Carmel Blue (9-0), Murrays Bay A1 (4-2), TNIS A (10-0).Kristen A (10-0), the team secured a place in the 1st/2nd playoff. In the final, they faced a strong Northcross side, finishing runners-up after a hard-fought 5-3 contest. An outstanding achievement and a well-deserved 2nd place finish.
Rosmini Red competed in the largest division of the day (second division), featuring 12 teams. The boys were outstanding throughout pool play, defeating Murrays Bay (3-2), Northcote (3-2), Orewa (5-2), Belmont (5-0), and Wairau (4-1). A 3-1 crossover victory secured their place in the 1st/2nd playoff. After six consecutive wins, they suffered their first and only loss of the day in a thrilling final against Albany, narrowly going down 3-2. A tremendous effort and another excellent 2nd place finish.
Rosmini White capped off an exceptional day by claiming 1st place overall in third division. Their results included victories over Orewa (8-5), Carmel White (8-3), and Birkdale (7-0). They then won an absolute nail-biter against Kristen, edging out a thrilling 6-5 victory to reach the final. The boys finished the day in style, winning the championship match 7-3 to take home the title.
A special mention to the student coaches: James McIndoe, Carter McKolskey, Cale Jewson, Callum Khan, Oscar Reade and Oskar Gerdin. The boys were also excited to see old boy Ethan McKolsey turn up in his Rosmini jumper to watch a few games.
