Y13 Tairua River Field Trip

Earth and Space Science students braved a two-day camping field trip beside the Tairua River to conduct practical investigations

Last week, the Year 13 (Level 3) Earth and Space Science students from Rosmini College braved a two-day camping field trip beside the Tairua River to conduct practical investigations into the river's physical characteristics.

Despite facing cold and miserable conditions, the students' spirits remained high, spurred on by their own determination and the enthusiastic encouragement of Rosmini Senior Leadership Team representative, Rachel Peak.

A standout highlight of the trip was a visit to the Thames School of Mines museum. There, the students were able to enrich their studies by comparing various rocks, crystals, ores, and fossils, viewing authentic period machinery, and learning about the historic Thames Gold Rush of the late 1860s.
