Our Year 7s recently dove into the world of windsurfing and paddle boarding
Well done to our Year 7s, who recently dove into the world of windsurfing and paddle boarding! While the elements offered two very different experiences, the enthusiasm remained high across the board.
Six out of the seven classes were met with mirror-calm waters. While the wind was too light for technical windsurfing, the boys made the most of it with paddleboard games and mastering the art of simply standing upright on their boards.
Class 7PFH, on the other hand, was met with 14 km/h winds. The day quickly shifted from a relaxing float to a test of resilience. The real challenge wasn't just staying dry—it was trying to hear and follow technical instructions being shouted across the choppy water!
While the wind provided the power, it also provided comedy. For 7PFH, the lesson quickly turned into a masterclass in frantic communication. As the breeze caught the sails, the instructors’ voices boomed across the water: "Move the sail to your left! No, your left! No, that’s your right... to your left! More, move it more to the left... oh... drop the sail. DROP THE SAIL!"
Despite the geographical confusion and the struggle to tell the bow from the stern (or left from right), the boys showed incredible grit. By the end of the session, the "shouted instructions" were replaced by the sight of sails actually staying upright. Progress was made—even if it involved a few unintentional detours across the lake!
