Students put their faith into action

Our youngest Rosminians enjoyed powerful retreat days, led by Year 13s

The school year kicked off with real energy as we hosted our annual Year 7 Induction and Year 8 Refresher days. These retreats are a huge part of who we are at Rosmini, giving our newest students a proper welcome and helping our Year 8s refocus on their faith journey as they head into the new year. International students and boys new to Rosmini College also attended one of the days.

The real heart of these two days was our Year 13 Catholic Character Leaders. They led with genuine passion and proved themselves to be incredibly capable role models. It was impressive to see them step up and truly embody the Rosminian spirit.

Rather than just running activities, our senior leaders shared their own stories. By opening up about their personal faith journeys, they showed our younger students that faith isn't just something we talk about—it’s something we live.

They spoke candidly about:
Finding God on the sports field through sportsmanship and perserverance
The transformative power of Youth Camps
Their personal growth within the walls of Rosmini College
The daily reality of living out our values as young Catholic men.

By showing that faith isn't just something for the classroom, but something that lives in "all walks of life," our leaders bridged the gap between our seniors and our juniors.

At the heart of the sessions was the 2026 school theme, based on Luke 6:31:

"Do to others as you would have them do to you."

In small breakout groups, our leaders helped students unpack this "Golden Rule." The Year 7s brought this scripture to life through a high-energy skit competition, where creativity and humour were used to demonstrate how we treat our peers and neighbours with dignity and respect.

The Year 8s took a slightly more competitive approach with a spirited Bible Quiz, testing their knowledge of scripture and Catholic tradition. Beyond the games, both year groups spent time reflecting on Service. Guided by Galatians 6:2 ("Carry each other’s burdens"), students brainstormed practical ways they can live out our school motto through service to one another and the wider community.

It was great to see our younger students jump right in. Watching the different year groups bond so quickly was a highlight, and there was a real sense of pride as they explored what it means to be part of a Catholic school.

A huge thank you goes out to our Year 13 leaders. Their hard work and dedication made these days possible, and we’re excited to see the impact of these retreats continue to grow as the term rolls on.
