This Trans Tasman competition provides the highest level of inter-school water polo for our Premier team
Rosmini’s Premier team (no Year 13s allowed in this event) competed in the Trans-Tasman Schoolboys' Cup last week over five days, a prestigious inter-school event that brought together 19 boys' teams from both New Zealand and Australia.
This Trans Tasman competition provides the highest level of inter-school water polo for our Premier team and has been going for over 20 years.
Rosmini last year went to Sydney to play and this year it was held at St. Cuthberts pool and the new Hiwa UoA Recreation Centre in the City. An amazing facility. Next year the team will compete in Perth at host school, Christ Church Grammar.
Held over five intensive days, the tournament saw our relatively young Premier side face fierce competition. Despite their youth, the team demonstrated remarkable skill and resilience, securing several close and exciting results against Aussie opponents.
Results:
Vs Knox Grammar (Sydney) 8-8 draw
Vs Christ Church Grammar (Perth & Bronze winners) 6-10 loss
Vs Kings College 4-7 loss
Vs Tauranga Boys 5-7 loss
Vs Christchurch Boys 12-13 loss
Vs Trinity College (Melbourne) 8-8 draw
Vs St Bede’s College 8-2 win
Vs St. Kents College 8-4 win
Vs Kristin School 11-4 win
This tournament served as an invaluable opportunity for our younger players to compete at an international standard. The first night also saw the NZ vs Australia All Stars Team, made up of one player from each school team. Our All Star, Ben Morrison (Y12) made us proud!
The experience gained from this trans-Tasman tournament was fantastic as the team looks ahead to the upcoming Auckland season, North Islands, and Nationals in 2026.
Thanks to our supporters, manager Rachel Peak (TIC) and coaches Lachie Griffiths and old boy Will Catlin for your time over this tournament.
