Our Junior A and Junior B teams delivered exciting performances, demonstrating the depth of talent and dedication within our water polo programme
Rosmini College's commitment to water polo excellence was on full display as our Junior teams recently competed in the fiercely contested North Island Water Polo Tournament. Both our Junior A and Junior B teams delivered exciting performances, demonstrating the depth of talent and dedication within our programme.
This is a sport that keeps on giving as it runs all year so boys need to show discipline, mental and physical toughness and of course dedication to keep going and not let their team mates down! Well done to all who have been in these teams as the NI Tournament is the culmination of all your hard work.
The Junior A team, competing in Division 1, faced off against tough competition. They navigated a demanding pool of games, showcasing skill and tenacity that resulted in thrilling draws and decisive victories. Their efforts culminated in a well-deserved Bronze Medal, a significant achievement that underscores their status among the best junior teams in the North Island.
Games were Rosmini vs CBHS 13-3 Win, St. Peters 15-2 win, Kristin 6-4 win, AGS 11-5 win, an exciting 3-3 draw vs SHC, loss in the semi final to Kings 3-5 and the Bronze medal match vs Rangitoto 6-5. Well done to the team, the coaches, Lachie Griffiths and old boy, Mat Mihaljevich as well as manager Natasha McIndoe.
Equally impressive was the Junior B team, who battled through Division 2. They played with remarkable spirit and teamwork, securing important wins and draws in their matches. Their consistent performance throughout the tournament saw them advance to the final stages, where they ultimately earned a fantastic Silver Medal.
Results for the Jun B were: Vs Rangitoto B 9-7 win, Vs MAGS 4-10 loss, Vs St. Paul’s Collegiate 21-3, Vs SHC Blue and outstanding and exciting 8-8 Draw, Vs Rangitoto B 8-5 win in the Semifinal with a 13-9 loss in the Final against SHC Blue.
Jun B team member, Simon Tagg was selected as one of the Top Five MVP in Div 2 boys. Well done Simon!
These outstanding results reflect the hard work of the players, the dedication of the coaching staff, and the support of the Rosmini water polo community. Thanks to the Jun B coaches, Old Boys, Ethan McKolskey and Will Catlin, along with manager Dave Buchanan.
We congratulate both teams on their remarkable success and look forward to their continued growth and future achievements in the pool.
