Young artists visit Sculpture OnShore

Year 9 and 10 Visual Art students visited the Sculpture OnShore exhibition, stepping out of the classroom to experience art in a dynamic, real-world context

Last week our Year 9 and 10 Visual Art students visited the Sculpture OnShore exhibition at the clifftop location of Operetu Fort Takapuna in Devonport. This unique opportunity allowed our young artists to step out of the classroom and experience art in a dynamic, real-world context.

The exhibition features works from over 100 established and emerging artists nationwide, and provides a unique snapshot of contemporary sculpture practice in New Zealand.

The students thoroughly enjoyed walking through the outdoor exhibition, engaging in thought-provoking discussions about the various sculptures and installations. They explored form, meaning, and technique, prompting conversations that deepened their understanding and appreciation of contemporary art. It was fantastic to see their critical thinking skills applied to such a diverse range of artistic expressions.
