Rosmini College celebrated Te Wiki o te Reo Māori with a special highlight: the school's first-ever all Te Reo Māori Mass

Rosmini College celebrated Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week) with a special highlight: the school's first-ever all Te Reo Māori Mass. The Mass was a beautiful and meaningful occasion, celebrated by Fr. Mark Bond and embraced by the entire school community.

It was truly inspiring to see students take on key roles, bringing their faith and heritage together. Senior student and Māori leader, Benji Bryce, delivered the first reading, sharing scripture in te reo Māori. Following him, Justin-Leigh Manuel proclaimed the Responsorial Psalm, his voice resonating with pride and reverence.

The Mass concluded on a high note with the beloved hymn, "Mo Maria", a favourite among students. The song was led by Justin's brother, Paulie, on the guitar, creating a moving and unified sound that filled the auditorium where the mass was celebrated.

We are all woven together in God's tapestry of life, honouring all who live in our Land, and especially our Heavenly Father. This Mass was a powerful reminder of that truth, bringing students, staff, and the wider community closer as they celebrated their faith in a respectful and beautiful way.

Elsewhere during the week, students were able to take part in the traditional Māori game of Ki o Rahi, helped prepare a hāngī, browsed Māori titles in the library, practiced the school haka in class, and took part in fun quizzes!

At Friday's assembly, Benji led the school in the Māori version of the school prayer:

Antonio Rosmini.

Inoi mo mātou.
