Rosmini Water Polo makes a splash at Tim Sonderer tournament

Three Intermediate water polo teams competed in the Tim Sonderer Memorial tournament, gaining valuable experience and respectable placing

Last month three of our Intermediate water polo teams competed in the Tim Sonderer Memorial tournament.

It was an exciting four-day event that saw the Rosmini Blue team (coached by Y13 students, Oliver Sahinkaya and Liam Morley) gain 10th place in the A grade as they continue to build up for AIMS in the coming weeks.

The Rosmini Red team in the B grade had an outstanding tournament, only dropping one game - the final where they came up against the Mt. Maunganui Intermediate AIMS team. It was a close final and the team played extremely well as they did all tournament, playing as a team, listening to the student coaches Cale Jewson and Kenrich Shek, and never giving up in each game. Their silver medal was well deserved.

Meanwhile in the C grade, the improving Rosmini White team, coached by Oscar Reade and Oskar Gerdin (both Y11), gained a very respectable 6th place after having two narrow losses, a draw and winning their 3 games.

All three teams have another tournament at the end of the term, continue to play in the North Harbour Friday night league, and the Blue team travels to AIMS in September.

Thanks to the managers and coaches of each team who gave up valuable time to support the boys and their families over the tournament.
