55 students celebrated with loved ones at a beautiful Mass, celebrated by Bishop Steve Lowe

Tuesday 5 August marked a special day for 55 students at Rosmini College as they received the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion. The Rosmini College Auditorium was filled with a vibrant sense of community and celebration for this beautiful Mass, celebrated by Bishop Steve Lowe.

The ceremony began with a procession of Catholic Character Leaders, student readers, and altar servers, who were joined by Father Mark Bond and Bishop Lowe. The candidates, ranging from Year 7 to Year 13, were supported by their sponsors, family, and friends. It was particularly moving to see many of the school's own student leaders stepping up to serve as sponsors or proxies, demonstrating their commitment to guiding their peers on this faith journey.

In his homily, Bishop Lowe spoke directly to the students, emphasizing what a privilege it was for them to celebrate this significant moment in their lives within the walls of their school, as young Rosminians. He highlighted the importance of these sacraments and their role in strengthening their connection to the Church and their school community.

This special day was the culmination of a dedicated effort. Since the beginning of the year, the students have participated in a weekly Sacramental Programme, held on Thursday lunch breaks. This program was facilitated by our chaplain, Father Mark Bond, and Mrs. van Wyk. The commitment and faith shown by these students throughout the program have been truly inspiring.

Receiving First Holy Communion is a powerful moment that deepens a sense of belonging. As Bishop Lowe noted, it unites the students and the entire Rosmini community as they come to the Lord's altar as one family. This milestone is not an end, but a beginning. The school looks forward to continuing to support these young people as they grow in their faith, offering them further opportunities to engage with their spiritual journey.
