Senior Cricket tour Sri Lanka

The tour allowed players to experience the advanced skill level and different playing conditions offered by Sri Lanka

During the July school holidays a group of our senior Rosmini cricketers travelled to Sri Lanka for an incredible 10 days of development games, organised and led by our Director of Cricket Amita Weerakoon. The tour allowed players to experience the advanced skill level and different playing conditions offered by Sri Lanka.

Although only one game went our way, the players were impressed by the good sportsmanship and high skill level of their Sri Lankan opponents in games against Dharmaraja College, St Anthony’s College, St Joseph’s College and Southern School. The players were especially taken with the well-maintained and beautiful grounds.

The students also visited the Buddhist “Temple of the Tooth”, an elephant orphanage in Pinnawala, a turtle sanctuary and the Dutch fort in Galle, and the National Park and Safari. They also experienced a tea plantation, Sri Lankan market life, great cuisine and luxurious hotels.

Our thanks to Miss Johnny who accompanied the group on tour, to Andrew Smith and Roger Henderson for managing and coaching the tour team, and Ebru Nichols and all of the parents who helped fundraise with sausage sizzles and a movie night. This enabled us to make a donation towards supporting underprivileged cricket players in Sri Lanka. We were also grateful for the support of the parents who accompanied players on the trip.

The cricket community is looking forward to a similar tour with our junior players in 2026.
