Music Awards 2023
On Thursday 19 October the Rosmini College community celebrated those who have been involved in music groups at the school at a fun evening full of great music, inspirational chats and delicious nibbles!
As well as top class performances from our senior musicians, guests heard from Rosmini Old Boy Jack Timings, who spoke about how his love for music began at Rosmini and has continued to this day. Jack works as an engineer but spends a lot of his time travelling the world as part of a number of music ensembles. It was great to hear about his journey with music, and the lessons he has learned throughout, including the many ways you can enjoy a fulfilling musical life despite not being a professional musician, the travel and performance opportunities (he has shared the stage with the likes of Stan Walker, Simon O'Neill, The Rolling Stones, NZ Opera), and the powerful force that music has to broaden perspectives and enable people to connect.
The evening was a fantastic opportunity to recognise the musical talent at the school, and thank the students and teachers for the many hours and effort they put into the various music groups at Rosmini, including Rosmini Chamber Choir, Rosmini Orchestra, Carmini Choir, Junior Jazz Band, Junior Ensemble and Rosmini Big Band.
A special mention must go to a group of our senior students who have given many years of service to music at Rosmini, and our departing Year 13s who were presented with a pair of music-themed socks to remember their time as part of the Rosmini Music family!
While not all music students could attend the evening, the students below received the following service awards on the night. All other students will be receiving their award at their next rehearsal.
