Students attend Leaders Connect event
At the end of Term 2 a group of Rosmini students attended the Leaders Connect event at AUT’s City Campus, uniting over 80 school leaders and Principals from 18 schools.
They were joined by Minister of Education, Hon Erica Stanford MP and AUT Vice-Chancellor Damon Salesa, who spoke about issues such as empowering our teachers to better support students and how an increasingly interconnected world is driving transformative change in the education sector.
Students spoke with the Minister around the educational priorities and the long-term visions for the future of education in Aotearoa. Chris Huang asked about making NCEA more competitive globally, and the response from Ms Stanford was really encouraging. She pointed out that while NCEA needs to be more challenging and expand internationally, it also needs to remain accessible for students aiming for university. She mentioned getting school principals involved in the discussion and noted that NCEA is already working in places like Australia.
A big thanks to the fantastic AUT team for putting together such a meaningful event for our future leaders! We hope we can have more events like this, organized by universities and other education stakeholders, including international education business networks, for our youth including international students who are not just students but also residents, visitors, connectors, and investors, making meaningful contributions to our country.
