Media Studies Weta Workshop Tour
This week, our Media Studies students were lucky enough to attend the Weta Workshop Unleashed tour. It was an awesome experience and opportunity for the boys to see first hand some behind the scenes aspects of the film industry.
The tour included a number of genre displays including fantasy, horror and sci-fi. The best part was that the tour was totally interactive and the boys were able to touch, and even use, some of the props and equipment.
The planning, design and thinking that goes into creating such an array of costumes, props and sets was eye opening. We were able to step into the set of the fantasy film. The boys placed themselves in the position of actors in the sci-fi set as a giant robot creature came to life before them. The horror run was terrifying… Mrs Tait actually screamed!
One of the most exciting parts was looking at the realistic makeup used to create injuries, monsters and more! The boys were totally engaged in the activities and learnt so much in a short amount of time. Definitely a trip to remember.
