Envirogroup Planting at Smith’s Bush Reserve
We are very lucky at Rosmini College to be so close to perfectly maintained native bush at Smith’s Bush Reserve, and as a community, every year we help out to plant new seedlings of trees and ground cover plants.
This year we are relying on our intermediate and junior students and I must admit to being a little nervous as many students called in sick with terrible flu. Six boys from Year 7 to 10 were available and 180 plants were ready to be planted. The community group thought we’d take all day but due to a great demonstration and safety talk the boys had planted all the seedlings by 12pm!
The envirogroup boys commented on how much they enjoyed the day and how nice the community group was. They learned skills and felt the satisfaction of working hard to maintain and improve the environment.
