Newsletter (January 2013)
In my first newsletter of the year I would like to briefly outline our exam results for 2012 and I am delighted to record that they are outstanding.
Newsletter (December 2012)
Although this is a busy time of the year for everyone, I think it is important to take time to reflect, albeit briefly, on some of the highlights and achievements of our boys during the year.

GOLDEN JUBILEE 1962-2012
Undoubtedly you will all know that the Jubilee has come and gone, and to all extent and purposes it was a resounding success. I have already mentioned the great work Kevin Barry and his committee put in, and you can add to that many of the quiet, behind-the-scenes workers, both staff and parents, who were instrumental in making the weekend the success that it was. For those of you who didn’t attend any of the celebrations, I will outline some of the highlights.
Newsletter (September 2012)
The boys have been sitting their mock exams as I write this newsletter and these exams are very important as they give teachers and students a clear indication of how the student is performing. These tests are a wake-up call for the students who have fallen behind for various reasons. The good news is that the boys still have time to catch up and to do some serious study before the external exams. The real danger is for our boys to be complacent and settle for the Achieved grade, which can be well below their potential and may also mitigate against them being accepted for their chosen course at university or other tertiary institution. The clear message to the boys is fairly simple; if you want to achieve your goals then get down to some serious swot now; winter sports are nearly complete so it’s time to focus on what college is all about – teaching and learning.

GOLDEN JUBILEE 1962-2012
I cannot believe that we are into May already – this year is flying by. One of the reasons is that the Jubilee preparations are keeping us all very busy. This celebration takes place on Queen’s Birthday weekend (1st, 2nd and 3rd June) and it is important to remember that it is not just for Old Boys, but parents and friends of the college. Kevin Barry, the Chairman of the Jubilee committee, is anxious that we don’t leave it to the last minute to register, mainly because he needs to know numbers (especially for the dinner at Eden Park on Saturday night). The programme is on our website, and on the flyer recently sent to you, so I will not dwell on that aspect of the celebrations.
