Catholic Character Events - Aug/Sept |
What has happened:
- Cystic Fibrosis Appeal. Catholic Character students raised over $800 at school and on the streets of Takapuna and Milford during CF Awareness Week (16 – 20 August)
- Pakistan Flood Appeal. Rosmini sent a large donation through Caritas who will make sure the money is well spent.
- Staying in Touch with Catholics and Catholic Issues. We have organized for Catholic representatives from Auckland University, AUT and the Catholic Serra Club to speak to our school leavers about opportunities to stay in touch with fellow Catholics and Catholic groups/organizations once they have left school.
What is about to happen:
- Mufti Gold Coin Collection Day. This will be run in the last week of term to raise money for needy victims of the Christchurch earthquake and aftershocks.
- ‘Donate a Book’ Appeal. This will be launched in Week 9. It is being done to help out our ‘sister’ school in Tanzania. We hope to gather enough books to send several boxes of them to Holy Cross Pre-Primary and Primary school in Tanga where they have built a library but have very few books.

Catholic Character Report - July |
July 2010
A rather light month, as the Term 3 did not commence until 19th July.
However, just before the holiday break the Catholic Character group organized a food drive for De Paul House. This was very successful with eight large boxes of nonperishable food items being sent to De Paul House in the last week of Term 2.

From the 15th – 26th September Rosmini College’s Year 13 Catholic Character Group conducted a school wide food drive through St Vincent De Paul House to feed Auckland’s less fortunate. Deputy Head Boy Sean Ra says “we got the students to bring in as much food in as possible.” Year 8 student Cameron Hogg (13) of Castor Bay rose to the challenge admirably by bringing in a staggering 114 cans. He went around his Castor Bay neighbourhood, knocking on people’s doors and asked for cans. Cameron said he did this “to give Rosmini a good name and to fulfill our school motto - Legis Plenitudo Charitas or ‘Charity fulfils the Law.’” Year 9 students Tim Wightman (13) and David Sharp (13) of Glenfield also went around their neighbourhood and between them collected 120 cans. They described the experience as “fun.” Year 13 student Samuel Carrington of the Catholic Character Group concludes “I’m just glad to know that somewhere out in Auckland City less fortunate people will get a feed thanks to the students of Rosmini College!”
