Weekly Round Up 12

Term two has produced a number of very pleasing sporting results across the board and we can look back at our efforts and be extremely happy. The soccer teams have consistently produced excellent results competing and often beating teams supposedly ranked much higher. They have benefitted immensely from all the hard work the players and the management, lead by Mr Stanojevic have put in throughout the season and I’m sure the success will continue next term.

The rugby results have been very good for most teams with two teams, the 4th grade and 6th grade both unbeaten after a terms play. The 1st xv is improving weekly and now sits in third place just behind Orewa and Westlake boys. But the team is able to finish the term on a high with a battle this Saturday against Orewa, to regain the Woodhouse shield. They are very excited for this clash and it would give them plenty of confidence if they can win moving into term three. Some key results to note from the weekend just gone were the 1st xv beating Massey 7 v 5, 2nd xv narrowly losing to Westlake 2nd xv, 4th grade beating Long Bay 22 v 10, 6th grade won and 7th grade won.

It is also important to note the outstanding results the intermediate boys have acheieved. Just recently the Open weight rugby team took part in the Wider Auckland championship out at the Avondale Racecourse. It was a great achievement to make it this far and although they encountered some boys much bigger and stronger than them, they still put up a dogged effort, especially in finishing the day with a 12 all draw with Sacred Heart. We also had success in the North Harbour Intermediate basketball competition with the Rosmini Breakers winning the boys league 2, while the the Rosmini Raptors won the boys league 7.

So a term of sport enjoyed by everyone at Rosmini and we only hope we continue our strong efforts into term three. Enjoy the holidays!
